Roadmap: ProfoundCMS V3 now in use!
After many years of development, our new ProfoundCMS V3 is finally launched and already adopted by clients.
We've spoken on many occasions about the new and exciting Version 3 of our completely bespoke CMS system... well now, after 2 years in the making, ProfoundCMS goes from Version 2 to Version 3.
Following on from Version 2, the new V3 has seen many new features added to both the front-end and management end.
Here's just a few exciting tidbits:
SEARCH ENGINE AUTO-OPTIMISING
Probably our most exciting new feature is complete and simple on-site SEO—built right into the application.
No need to worry about keywords, links, metatags and sitemaps... the V3 system analyses your pages using a bit of clever thinking every time you save a page to decide how best to optimise it for the search engines.
Just write your pages, describe them in one sentence, save, and let ProfoundCMS do the rest. It's magic.
IN-SITE CONTROL OF SOCIAL MEDIA
Whatever your social media requirements, ProfoundCMS V3 gives you simple control of linking your website with your social media accounts.
COMPLETELY REWRITTEN DISPLAY ENGINE
Your pages are stored in the CMS database and rendered by the ProfoundCMS page rendering engine. All your 'stuff' is translated to HTML on-the-fly and delivered to your user.
This system has been completely re-engineered to deliver pages faster, with richer features such as custom layouts, page-by-page themes, widgets, sidebars and much more. All with the familiar, simple ProfoundCMS control system running behind the scenes.

March 2011, and it's been a busy few months. And we've finally gotten round to introducing direct Twitter and Facebook support to our ProfoundCMS product.
With features such as feeds, like buttons, and links to SM pages, your website can stay dynamically connected to your customers and followers.

It's been around now for ten years, and things have moved on...
With today's modern web browsers ushering in new tech such as HTML5 and CSS3, it's hardly suprising that many larger web development companies are choosing not to directly support IE6.
With massive changes in layout, fonts, and even transparency support, IE6 is so far behind the rest.
As web developers, we've always made sure we support the latest browsers, but ALSO made sure we support the older ones too. This takes a HUGE amount of effort, and means we have to have a wide range of test systems in place.
However, when creating dynamic, modern web applications and sites, supporting the older browsers has to end somewhere.
Our own software systems such as our ProfoundCMS system will no longer support IE6.
This is a huge decision, but we've based it on our decision on the fact that analysing 2010's web logs, we see that IE6 accounts for only 2.1% (average) of ALL the traffic in our 40+ customer websites.
2.1% isn't justification enough for the additional hours of development involved.
Therefore, as of December 2010, we will not support IE6.
We will, however, ensure that our web app 'ProfoundCMS' will deliver a message to IE6 users telling them that they are missing out on the web experience, and should upgrade their browser.
